Rift Valley Fire & Water Safari

Lake Bogoria’s geothermal hot springs and geysers (the “fire”) and Lake Baringo’s calm, hippo-filled waters (the “water”) — two contrasting sides of the same Rift Valley system.

This itinerary is priced for mid-range travelers, using comfortable lodges like Tumbili Lodge rather than premium properties, making it one of Africa Moja Tours’ more accessible short safaris.

The hot springs and geysers along the lakeshore — a striking geothermal feature that’s uncommon to see this closely on an East African safari.

A guided boat ride with a local guide brings you close to crocodiles and hippos, with strong birdlife visible along the shoreline, including a fish eagle feeding demonstration.

This 3-day version covers Lake Bogoria and Lake Baringo only, at mid-range lodges, while the 4-day Kenya Rift Valley Lakes Explorer Safari adds Lake Nakuru’s rhino safari at the start and uses different accommodation. Choose this option for a shorter, more budget-conscious trip focused on the geysers and birdlife.

Yes — Lake Baringo alone hosts over 400 recorded bird species, making this one of Kenya’s strongest short birding circuits.

This safari runs year-round, though flamingo numbers at Lake Bogoria vary seasonally with lake conditions. See our Best Time to Go on Safari in Africa guide for broader Kenya travel timing.

Yes — this route works well as a short add-on before or after a Masai Mara or Amboseli safari. Our custom safari packages page can build a combined itinerary around your exact dates, and our Big Five explainer covers where to find the Big Five elsewhere in Kenya.

Africa Moja Tours offers this route at accessible mid-range pricing without cutting corners on the two signature experiences — the Bogoria geysers and the Baringo boat safari — with experienced driver-guides throughout.
