Mbazo Safari Lodge is inside the Black Rhino Game Reserve, which forms part of the
Greater Pilanesberg area with open access to the national park.
Transfers enter via the Black Rhino Gate (private reserve entrance) off the R565.
Plan on ±3 hours by road in normal traffic (Johannesburg/OR Tambo to Black Rhino area is
~188–205 km).
Pilanesberg’s public gate times are roughly 05:30–19:00 (Nov–Feb), 06:00–18:30 (Mar–
Apr & Sep–Oct), and 06:30–18:00 (May–Aug). We schedule your pick-up to arrive well
before closing.
Late arrivals need pre-approval with the lodge/gate. We coordinate with Mbazo and Black
Rhino security when late flights make it unavoidable.
Gate or conservation fees are separate from transfers and may be charged by the
lodge/reserve. (Many properties state gate fees are not included in the room rate.)
Yes—Pilanesberg (including Black Rhino) is a malaria-free safari area.

Typical allowance: 1 medium suitcase + 1 carry-on per person. Tell us if you have

We track flights and adjust pickup. If your arrival risks missing gate hours, we liaise with
the lodge/gate to find the best solution.
Most fees can be settled at the lodge, but keeping a bank card + some ZAR cash is handy
for small purchases or tips.
From Johannesburg/OR Tambo, we usually pick up ~10:30–11:00 to reach Mbazo with
time to spare (subject to traffic and stops).
