Packing List for a 2 Day Kruger Tour From Johannesburg

When embarking on a short 2 day safari tour of Kruger National Park from Johannesburg, packing light is key. You’ll be moving around a lot and space in the tour vehicle is limited. Focus on the essentials:

Clothing

Pack comfortable, casual clothing like t-shirts, shorts, light pants, and breathable shirts. Bring a jacket for cool early mornings and evenings. Good walking shoes, socks, and a hat are must-haves. Don’t forget pajamas, underwear, and any toiletries you may need.

Binoculars

A good pair of binoculars is essential for game viewing. Look for a pair that magnifies between 8x to 12x for the best experience. Binoculars allow you to get an up-close look at wildlife from a safe distance.

Camera

You’ll want to capture plenty of memories from your safari, so bring your trusty camera or smartphone. For the best wildlife shots, a DSLR camera with a long zoom lens (at least 200- 400mm) is ideal. Make sure you have plenty of batteries and extra memory cards.

Other Items

Pack a flashlight with extra batteries, insect repellant to ward off mosquitoes, sun protection like sunglasses and sunscreen, a basic first aid kit, hand wipes, and any important medications that you may need. Don’t forget your ID, passport, tickets, cash, credit cards, and any vouchers for your tour.

By focusing on the essential gear and packing light, you’ll be ready to set off on your exciting 2 day Kruger safari adventure from Johannesburg. The thrill of spotting wildlife in their natural habitat will make any inconvenience of limited packing space worthwhile! Enjoy your trip and happy game viewing!

Top Sightings on a 2 Day Safari in South Africa

A short safari is the perfect way to get a glimpse into South Africa’s incredible wildlife. Even with just two days in Kruger National Park, you have a good chance of spotting the Big Five: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalo.

Lions

Lions are the kings of the jungle, and seeing them in their natural habitat is a thrill. Prides of lions—groups of up to three males, a dozen females, and their cubs—lounge under trees and roam the open grasslands. Listen for their distinctive roaring, especially at dawn and dusk.

Leopards

These elusive big cats are solitary and nocturnal, so spotting one is really special. Look for them draped over tree branches or stalking prey in the bush. Leopards are powerful swimmers and climbers, and they stash their kills up in the trees to keep them safe from scavengers.

Rhinos

Both black and white rhinos roam Kruger, though the black rhino is more commonly seen. Watch for them grazing on grass and shrubs or wallowing in mud holes to cool off and deter insects. Sadly, rhino poaching is an ongoing threat, so anti-poaching units actively monitor the park.

Elephants

Enormous elephant herds—including mothers, babies, and young males—wander through the park. Bull elephants can stand over 13 feet tall! Watch them strip leaves from trees, gather at watering holes, and spray themselves with dirt and water. The sounds of their rumbling stomachs and flapping ears are unforgettable.

A two day safari adventure gives you a glimpse into the circle of life in Kruger National Park. With some patience and luck, you’ll spot amazing wildlife and gain an appreciation for these remarkable animals in their native habitat. A safari is an experience you’ll never forget!
